FAQ
What is a quota for hiring foreign labour?
It is the maximum permissible number of foreign labour force that an employer is allowed to hire to perform labour activities in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
What is a permit to hire foreign labour?
It is a document of the established form issued by a local executive authority to an employer for attracting foreign labour force to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Can a foreign worker be replaced?
A previously issued permit can be re-issued for another foreign worker if the worker for whom it was issued does not arrive at the place of work or their labour contract is terminated.
How long is a work permit valid?
Category 1: one, two or three years, with the right to extend. Categories 2 and 3: twelve months, extendable for twelve months up to three times. Category 4: twelve months, no extension. Seasonal foreign workers: up to 90, 180, 270 or 365 calendar days, no extension.
Can a permit be extended?
Yes. Permits to hire foreign labour can be extended, subject to the conditions of the Rules.
What is an intra-corporate transfer?
It is a temporary transfer of a foreign executive, manager or specialist from a company abroad to its branch, subsidiary or representative office in Kazakhstan.
